Ovens & Cookers at Aura Haushaltsgeräte
By Barbara Horn, Editorial Director
From a built-in oven with pyrolytic self-cleaning to a complete cooker set with a matching hob, we stock the right heat source for every kitchen, whether you are fitting out a new one or simply replacing the oven.
Fan-assisted or conventional top/bottom heat?
Fan-assisted heat circulates air with a fan to distribute warmth evenly throughout the cavity, so you can bake several trays at once, usually at a lower temperature — handy for biscuits or several dishes in parallel. Conventional top/bottom heat warms only from above and below and suits cakes, bakes and anything that needs even heat from both sides without a fan drying out the surface. Most modern ovens offer both functions plus extras such as a grill or steam assist.
What should you look for when buying?
Cavity size (usually 45 to 75 litres) determines how many trays fit in at once. Pyrolytic self-cleaning burns off residue at around 500°C, turning it to ash and saving you the scrubbing, though it does use extra electricity. Also check the number of heating modes, smart guided programmes with automatic cooking temperature, and — on a cooker set — whether the hob can be replaced separately.
Which oven and cooker brands are popular?
Miele and Bosch are among the best-selling brands in Germany, known for particularly durable engineering. Siemens and Neff, both part of the same group as Bosch, offer a very similar, wide-ranging line-up. AEG stands out for especially energy-efficient models, while Bauknecht offers solid value for budget-conscious buyers.
